John Lewis Mosaic Opening - September 2010

The John Lewis mosaic was opened on the 10th of September 2010 by Chrissie Hitchcock, the Mayor of Kingston.

The mosaic was commisioned by John Lewis to mark the 20th anniversary of their Kingston Branch. The mual depicts scenes from the river Thames and was led by Howard Grange and Jackie Mcintosh for the Save the World Club.

Thanks to all who helped on the mosaic, we really couldn't have done it without you in the time we had.

Make beautiful mosaics for your home - IN KINGSTON

Have you always wanted to create a beautiful mosaic, but don't know where to start? We may have the answer. Why not join our next course? No previous experience necessary!

Introduction to Mosaic Course
Thursdays 7.30pm to 10.00pm
Term Time only

By the end of the course you will have designed, made and grouted a mosaic that will be suitable for your garden or your home. The course covers all the technical information you need to know to make your own mosaic from start to finish, using the direct method.

The courses are held in our Mosaic Workshop at Kingston Environment Centre, Fairfield East, Kingston, KT1 2PT (near the Kingfisher Leisure Centre)

The cost of the course will be £144 but will include all your equipment and materials . We have a very wide range of ceramic and glass tiles to choose from.

Des Kay wins South East London Green Champion award

Des Kay has won the South London Guardian Green Champion of the year award. On accepting his award and a prize of a hot air balloon trip, Des said: “I'm really honoured to be the first Green Champion.”

Save the World Club have a qualified and experienced team of community artists that can help all stakeholders achieve enormous benefits from a locally based environmental arts project. We have worked with all age groups and all levels of ability including participants with learning difficulties and hard-to-reach groups. We have particular expertise in attracting and working with young offenders and with target families.....more here .
