Save the World Club Mosaic projects
John Lewis 20th anniversary Mosaic
A lovely mosaic for the 20th anniversary of the John Lewis Store in Kingston.
Classmates of Melanie Kogelbauer, who died in July 2007 following a three-year fight against the illness, spent several months working on the project – a collection of her favourite things immortalised in a mosaic.
Another beautiful mosaic consisting of concentric overlapping circles. Truly a community art piece with many people working on it. The mosaic has been installed on Kingston Road by the art college.
A beautiful mosaic with only a quarter installed it's still worth a look. The mosaic uses subject matter from the local area and mixes it with fantasy elements to create a wonderful, colourful piece of art.
Led by Howard Grange and funded by Brent Council the project lasted for two weeks over the 2009 Easter holidays. The project took place in the Leap community Centre on Hazel Road, where we created lots of beautiful mosaics for the wall surrounding the Basketball Court.
Led by Kim Porrelli our new mosaic classes have been a huge success. Held in the Kingston Environment Centre the classes happen weekly in school term time. Anyone is welcome. If you are interested in joining, please call Kim on 07950 935226 or email her on kim.porrelli@blueyonder.co.uk

A
fantastic project led by artist Karen
Parry and based on the art of Austrian

not have happened without the absolute
dedication and help of thousands of
volunteers and of course all the people
who work at Save the World.

July by the Mayor of Kingston....more
Back in the Kingsympton estate for
another mosaic project. here the mosaic
was completed by local volunteers.
The actual image is of a local man
called Reg who was well respected
amongst the local population. He loved
climbing and the image depicted shows
him doing just that.
The mosaic is on display in the local
community centre.
A mosaic made by Maria Morales and
Nicola Benge on the last mosaic course
of the year run by Julie Norburn at
the Welsh Hall. The mosaic was raffled
in early 2005 at the first SWC charity
dinner. The money raised is being
used to help replace the roof of the
Kingston Welsh Hall.
During 2001/2002, The Save the World Club initiated
a process of building community support and awareness
of the problems of graffiti in Central Kingston.
Based on qualitative research that focused exclusively
on attitudes from children and youth using the
Elm Road Playground, the year long project was
completed on 8th September 2002.
