Kim worked with every child in Year 3 to make this mosaic for the reception area at the school.
“The mosaic is beautiful and a talking point for all our visitors. The children are proud of their work and have made history making it in the first year of our new primary school. The design of the mosaic is a visual representation of what the children believe our school stands for. The picture depicts children in our new school uniform with hands joined around a central tree. The Cedar tree has stood in the school grounds, strong and proud for 350 years. It represents the past, present and future of our school as it grows.
The discussion and learning dialogue that took place during the preparation stage was invaluable. It bonded the group and encouraged them to think reflectively about the school and our principle aims. They enjoyed the experience of making the mosaic and had such fun watching the pieces coming together each week. They looked forward to each stage with anticipation and delight. By the time the artwork was near completion almost everyone in the school had added their contribution. There was great celebration when the mosaic was finally finished and wall mounted.
We are looking forward to further projects in the future.”
