Over 120 people from 3 to 93 worked together on this project over a period of 6 months to create a mosaic for the newly refurbished Synagogue in Surbiton. The mosaic is a collage made up of various Biblical symbols, such as a dove of peace and a Hebrew Torah scroll, as well as the synagogue's rainbow logo and a tree of life.
Charley Baginsky, rabbi at the synagogue, said it was great to see so many members of the congregation come together when working on the mosaic.
She said: “For me, the mosaic goes beyond a beautiful work of art and represents the power of community - how each little piece plays its part in forming a whole.
“Just as the mosaic needed every fragment to form it, so we rely on each other to make a dynamic and welcoming community. Every time we walk into our reception we will be reminded of what we can achieve together.”
