In October we were visited by three fantastic volunteers from Kingston Council - Jane, Rose and Karin - as well as a team of six intrepid helpers from the Kingston branch of GoodGym.
They undertook the task of clearing one of our locations used to store items for other projects, and did an amazing job!
The council workers moved the items we wanted to keep on to vans and transported them to another site for storage. Later that day, we were joined by the ever-energetic GoodGym-ers, who, in the hour they were with us, cleared the majority of the remaining items we weren’t able to hold on to.
Together they managed to move nearly eight tons! We’d like to give all those involved a massive "thank you" for their Herculean efforts, including some of our wonderful regular volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in alongside them. We couldn't have done this without your support.
As a postscript, the clearance was continued and completed at a later date. Following this, our very own Tariq said: "I want to thank the 15 people who helped us clear six tons of surplus furniture on the 29th October. Thanks to Robyn, Ashab and the GoodGym Kingston who made the task easy. And thanks to local social entrepreneur Ross Carpenter who brought his tractor to crush wood."
