On Wednesday 10th July, we were visited by Andy - a member of a Masonic lodge in Surbiton.
The lodge had collected a quantity of dried, tinned and long-life foods and were looking for somewhere to donate them, so that they could be distributed to help those in need.
We graciously accepted the donation and agreed that he would contact us if and when the lodge had any further goods to give in the future (see picture below).
The following night (Thursday) and Friday, we used the foodstuffs donated to support the launch of our free food-provision pilot we’re calling the "Waste-Not-Want-Not Community Fridge".
With more than 50 visitors over the two days alone - during which we had both long-life and fresh food available (all collected from our nightly supermarket pick-ups) alongside the donation - we think that so far this has been a fantastic success! We’ll have more to share soon when the pilot ends.
