On January 18th, we had the pleasure of hosting the Namaste Kingston at The Circulatory. Over 80 attendees joined us to experience the rich traditions, music, dance, and food from across India, including Western India (Gujarat), Western India (Maharashtra), Northern India, Southern India, and North Eastern India.
From kite making & henna art to fire performances & storytelling, this event beautifully honoured the vibrant spirit of India's festivals:
Pongal: Attendees witnessed Tamil Nadu’s thanksgiving rituals with sweet rice offerings, Pongal symbolizing gratitude and prosperity.
Makar Sankranti: The festival’s spirit was captured with Sankranti Haldi Kumkum gathering for ladies, fostering togetherness and tradition.
Bihu: Assam’s lively harvest festival was celebrated with traditional decorations and feasts, embracing community joy.
Lohri: The warmth of Punjab’s Lohri was felt with bonfires, folk songs, and sesame treats shared among participants.
Uttarayan: Kite-making workshop for children which was very popular at the event.
We also had Mehndi artist who created beautiful traditional designs.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us! This event truly fostered community cohesion, sustainability, and cultural appreciation.
Stay tuned for more exciting celebrations!
