Soup-er Sunday

We recently attended this year’s King’s Soup event at Claremont Gardens, Surbiton.

On Sunday 15 October it was “food, fun and friends” as we took part in the second half of Seething Sunday, organised by the fantastic Community Brain - a not-for-profit set-up that uses arts, local history, social enterprise and community-led regeneration in order to give local areas a renewed sense of value and pride. We’d like to thank them for putting on another great bash!

The event followed the fundraiser Surbiton Ski Sunday in which daredevil participants got the chance to strap blocks of ice to their feet and “ski” down St. Mark’s Hill - all whilst sporting a costume of their choice!

After this extravaganza, from 1pm until 4.30pm people were able to enjoy live music, a dramatic production and of course a great soup made by the community; people were asked to bring a potato or leek if they could and help contribute to the delicious broth, as well as a bowl to enjoy it from.

In addition to this, there was a charity bar as well as a number of vendors - we had a pop-up selling quality second-hand goods including clothes, knick-knacks and costume jewellery. We managed to sell a large number of items, and also used the opportunity to let visitors to our stall know who we are, what we do and where they can find us.

We look forward to the next Seething Sunday, which will hopefully take place at the end of February or the beginning of March next year.
